On June 20, 2026, at approximately 2:40 a.m., troopers conducting stationary patrol duties in Lower Paxton Township observed a 2014 black Nissan Altima pass their location at a high rate of speed, according to the release. Police initiated a traffic stop and determined the operator, a 29-year-old male from Baltimore, Maryland, was driving under the influence of alcohol, police say. On July 9, 2026, at approximately 5:28 p.m., troopers responded to Interstate 83 North in Harrisburg City for a vehicle blocking the center lane. The operator of a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country, a 49-year-old male from Middletown, Pennsylvania, was deemed impaired and taken into custody, according to police. Police also reported multiple crashes during this period. On June 25, 2026, at approximately 4:11 a.m., a two-vehicle crash involving commercial trucks occurred on the Interstate 83 southbound ramp to Interstate 283 in Swatara Township. A 1997 Freightliner operated by Joseph L. Alston, 31, of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, was charged with a turning movements violation after allegedly changing lanes unsafely in front of a 1998 Peterbilt operated by Alexander N. Mason, 34, of Aberdeen, Maryland, the release states. No injuries were reported. On July 6, 2026, at approximately 12:50 p.m., a four-vehicle crash occurred on the PA 581 eastbound off-ramp near Carlisle Pike in Hampden Township, Cumberland County. According to police, a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze operated by Raphall B. Patterson, 35, of Mechanicsburg, was fleeing from Hampden Township Police at a high rate of speed when the operator lost control and struck a stopped 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 operated by Adam L. Hinton, 45, of Etters. The impact pushed the Ram into two other stopped vehicles. Hinton and passengers, including a 10-year-old female, were transported to Holy Spirit Medical Center with suspected minor injuries or possible injuries, police say. Additional crashes involving commercial vehicles and a hit-and-run incident on Interstate 83 were also reported during this period, according to the releases.
